Fear of Public Speaking

Fear of Public Speaking

Studies show that many people fear speaking in public more than they fear death. This is a powerful fear. It stops lawyers from practicing the kind of law they want to, stops sales people from making presentations, stops entrepreneurs from marketing their business and stops school children from excelling.

What if you could overcome this fear?  You were not born with this fear.  The only two fears we are born with are fear of falling and loud noises, everything else is learned.

This fear is not rational.  It is a matter of perception.  You worry that your presentation is not good enough. You might be afraid that you will forget or go blank while speaking.  Or perhaps you fear that the audience will think you look foolish?  You may think the audience is judging you or it might just be uncomfortable with your heart pounding and the out of control sweating.  You are now in fight or flight and will not perform well.

I know the feeling well since I used to have this fear.   It stopped me from performing the way I would have liked in my previous career in sales.  Eventually it drove me to see a hypnotherapist and that’s why today I can give speeches comfortably as part of my business.

The secret to speaking effectively is to be calm and focused.  Using hypnosis and NLP, I help my clients remain calm and focused in all speaking situations.   hypnosis and NLP are two very effective technologies for change.  They are part of a category called “brief therapy” and can help you change more quickly than talk therapy or other types of behavioral therapy.

So whether you want to make a speech comfortably, give a PowerPoint without nervousness, or simply be able to introduce yourself at a workshop or networking group, you will have the ability to do so.
